摘要

Order-of-addition experiments are designs in which the response depends on the sequence in which components are added. When the number of components is large, it becomes impractical to test every possible sequence (m!). Consequently, the primary goal of an order-of-addition design is to identify a smaller and informative subset of orders. Two commonly used models for analyzing such experiments are the pairwise-ordering (PWO) model and the component-position (CP) model. The PWO model focuses on the relative ordering between pairs of components, whereas the CP model considers effects associated with the absolute position of each component in the sequence. Motivated by these methods, we define some balance properties that characterize desirable designs and propose a construction method based on Williams designs. An application to single-machine scheduling is presented, where the objective is to determine the best job sequence that optimizes a given objective.
